Strategic Partnerships & Business Development Lead

The Strategic Partnerships & Business Development Lead at The Nod Inc. will be a senior leader responsible for identifying, negotiating, and cultivating high-impact partnerships that help power our mission: circulate $100M through 500 Canadian Black-owned businesses in four years.

A Strategic Partnerships and Business Development Manager identifies, builds, and nurtures alliances with external organizations to achieve a company's strategic goals and drive growth. Key responsibilities include identifying mutually beneficial partnership opportunities, negotiating agreements, fostering strong relationships, and ensuring collaborations align with long-term business objectives.

Prospecting and Identification

  • Research and identify potential partners whose products, services, or market access align with The Nod’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective partners with clear engagement strategies.

Sales Leadership

  • Prospect, pitch, and close deals with diverse stakeholders, ensuring value creation and direct revenue generation for both The Nod and its partners.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a sales force to drive sustained growth and partnership outcomes.

Relationship Cultivation

  • Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with key stakeholders at partner organizations.
  • Represent The Nod in external events, conferences, and meetings to pitch, network, and amplify partnership opportunities.
  • Position The Nod as a trusted and credible partner in both local and international markets.

Negotiation and Contracts

  • Negotiate terms for collaborations, joint ventures, or strategic alliances, and administer associated contracts and agreements.
  • Draft and oversee contracts to ensure compliance with legal and financial requirements.
  • Establish frameworks for performance evaluation and accountability within agreements.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop strategies and define clear goals for partnerships that contribute to market expansion, revenue growth, and innovation.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning by identifying emerging opportunities and risks in the partnerships landscape.

Collaboration and Alignment

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Community, Product/Programs, and Finance to ensure partnerships are successfully integrated and support the company’s overall mission and values.
  • Oversee the full partnership lifecycle: from ideation, onboarding, activation, to evaluation and optimization.
  • Create internal reporting structures to share partnership insights and progress with leadership.

Market Analysis

  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscapes, and partnership innovations to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Use insights to identify opportunities for thought leadership and positioning The Nod at the forefront of partnership innovation.

Strategic Thinking

  • Deep understanding of business strategy, market trends, and competitive landscapes.

Community Engagement & Program Manager

The Community Engagement & Program Manager at The Nod Inc. is responsible for designing, managing, and scaling initiatives that connect Black-owned businesses, partners, and allies with our mission: circulate $100M through 500 Canadian Black-owned businesses in four years. This role ensures that The Nod stays rooted in community needs and delivers programs that create measurable participation and impact.

A Community Engagement & Program Manager develops strategies to strengthen relationships, manages program implementation, and ensures initiatives are aligned with organizational objectives. They are the connector who listens deeply, translates insights into action, and builds trust between The Nod and its stakeholders.

Program Design & Delivery

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of The Nod’s community-facing programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies that increase participation in The Nod App, campaigns, and events.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, scalable, and tailored to the needs of diverse audiences.

Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners, community organizations, and partners.
  • Represent The Nod at community events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to strengthen visibility and trust.
  • Act as a liaison between community voices and organizational leadership.

Project & Budget Management

  • Manage program timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
  • Track engagement data and report on outcomes and impact to leadership and funders.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and logistical coordination for community events. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Marketing, Product, and Partnerships teams to integrate community feedback and amplify success stories.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to align community initiatives with The Nod’s overall strategy.

Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor engagement metrics and analyze program performance to identify strengths and improvement areas.
  • Conduct surveys, focus groups, or community consultations to gather insights and feedback.
  • Stay current on community needs, trends, and best practices to keep programs relevant and impactful.

  • Extensive experience  in community engagement, program management, or stakeholder relations, ideally with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations.

Operations Manager

The Operations Manager at The Nod Inc. is responsible for building and optimizing the systems, processes, and workflows that keep the organization running smoothly as we scale our mission: circulate $100M through 500 Canadian Black-owned businesses in four years. This role ensures operational excellence across all departments, enabling leadership and teams to focus on strategy and impact.

An Operations Manager oversees day-to-day business operations, designs standard operating procedures (SOPs), manages budgets and vendor relationships, and develops reporting structures that allow for data-driven decision-making. They are the problem-solver who turns complexity into clarity and ensures that The Nod operates with efficiency, accountability, and a focus on results.

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure seamless execution across programs, partnerships, and internal teams.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve internal processes and SOPs.
  • Establish key operational metrics to track efficiency and organizational performance. 

Financial Oversight

  • Manage operational budgets, track expenses, and collaborate with Finance to ensure fiscal discipline.
  • Provide regular financial and operational performance reports to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality. 

Project & Resource Coordination

  • Coordinate cross-functional projects, aligning teams with timelines, deliverables, and priorities.
  • Optimize resource allocation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope and on budget.
  • Establish project tracking systems for accountability and timely execution.

Systems & Tools Implementation

  • Select and implement productivity tools (e.g., ClickUp, Google Workspace) to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure data integrity and maintain centralized documentation for reporting and audits.
  • Drive digital adoption and ensure staff are trained on operational tools.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Lead operational risk management and compliance efforts to meet legal and organizational requirements.

Marketing Communications Manager

As the Marketing Communications Manager at The Nod Inc., you’ll drive brand awareness, audience engagement, and business growth through strategic marketing initiatives. You’ll craft compelling messaging, develop and execute multi-channel campaigns, and oversee both digital and offline communication strategies. Collaborating closely with product, sales, and leadership teams, you’ll ensure that our brand voice resonates with our target audience and aligns with our company’s vision.

Fundraising & Partnerships Intern

As a Fundraising & Partnerships Intern at The Nod, you’ll support our fundraising and partnership efforts while gaining hands-on experience in research, outreach, and relationship-building. You’ll help identify funding opportunities, draft materials, and assist in engaging with potential sponsors and partners who align with our mission.
